On April 27th, 2024 

A special presentation was made at the “Barker Boil” at Shields Airpark. FAA Birmingham FSDO representative Billy Hattaway presented DeWitt Barker with the prestigious Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award, for 50+ years as an A&P mechanic. Since DeWitt also received the 50-year Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award in September 2023, he becomes one of less than 1000 pilots in the USA to receive both awards.
